Charge -- Attempted murder with gang allegations

Facts -- Defendant and 7 other co-defendants were charged with attemtped murder after a shooting in a nightclub in Garden Grove. All the other co-defendants were convicted of various felonies and all received state prison sentences. Two of the seven co-defendants received 20+ year sentences.
Result -- After we were hired on this case, we argued for a bail reduction. Bail was originally set at $500,000 and we got defendant released on his Own Recognizance. After extensive negotiations with the District Attorney`s office, we got the charges reduced to misdemeanor assault. All other charges were dismissed. Defendant was given a terminal sentence (which means no probation) of 60 days jail and credit for time served.

Issue -- We represented the petitioner who wanted a restraining order against his ex-girlfriend who had been stalking him. After we filed our request for a restraining order, the ex-girlfriend filed for a restraining order against our client at the same time.
